Re: Some thoughts on GK2

I guess it depends on the level you are looking at the game from. At a high level, yes, the overall idea is the same. But let's compare it to GK1. In GK1, you had a lot of verb icons (too many in my opinion, but still), you could freely walk around the game world (like move two feet in that directio...

Re: Some thoughts on GK2

I guess I agree overall with both of you. The atmosphere, plot, characters.... it was very, very good. But I had higher expectations of the gameplay, and the FMV limitations plus several ilogical puzzles/triggers were less than what I expected. But my overall experience with the game was very positi...

Re: Some thoughts on GK2

Ok, so I finally finished GK2. If I look at the game as an interactive movie, I think I enoyed it very much. The story was very good, and some of the actors were pretty convincing too. And mixing a plot with historical events is always going to get me interested. I was surprised that they filmed a w...

Re: Some thoughts on GK2

Ok, so I've finished chapter 4, and I'm starting chapter 5. Chapter 4 was ineresting in terms of getting to know more about Ludwig, and seeing how a mental picture of him was formed in my mind through all of the research that had to be done. However, I did not like the fact that many things in the c...

Re: Some thoughts on GK2

Hehe, not sure if I'll be able to wait till then :). Anyway, I just finished chapter 3, and I have to say I am... intrigued. The gameplay for this chapter was again, nothing outstanding to me. But the story is getting better and better... this whole idea how the werewolves are related to the hunting...

Re: Some thoughts on GK2

I haven't played Phantasmagoria yet, but yeah, I don't think it is too suitable for kids... poor young Jules :). But you're right: I'll probably appreciate GK more by playing it now... I probably would have missed so many things playing it back when I was a kid... That makes me think I should probab...

Re: Some thoughts on GK2

Thanks for the welcome Jules! I do have to say that I'm not a native Pennsylvanian... though I like living here a lot (except when the weather goes bonkers, which happens from time to time :) ). Yeah, I am not sure why it took me so long to play GK... I've played a lot of Sierra games, but for one r...

Some thoughts on GK2

Hello everybody! I am new here at the SHP. I'm a long time Sierra fan, and I used to be kinda active in the old Sierra message boards, and also in Sierra Planet for a while after the Mystery/adventure official forums closed down. I accidentaly found the SHP a little while ago, and I think it's wonde...

Re: Gabriel Knight 2, GoG and the subtitles patch

Sure, I'd be happy to! This is my first time playing the entire GK series; I enjoyed a lot reading over the playthrough you guys did a while ago for GK1. And moving from GK1 to GK2 was... well, there were a lot of changes to comment upon. I don't know if it is ok to follow this discussion it in this...

Re: Gabriel Knight 2, GoG and the subtitles patch

Thank you so much for creating these subtitles and for figuring out how to install them manually in the GOG version of the game. Now I can go and really enjoy playing GK2 :).
