Re: AGI Art for non-Sierra games

Incidentally, Goatmeal, I used your Space Quest 3 title font for one of my 4k SQ3 backgrounds. Very helpful for quick authenticity! Actually, you know I never thought about it then, but if you like I can give you credit for that. No need for credit, MI. You made some wonderful backgrounds, and I'm ...

Re: AGI Art for non-Sierra games

Yeah; do you know the name of said "standard font that Sierra used"? :D I believe it's simply the old IBM CGA video screen font. Here's my TTF version of Sierra's AGI font: https://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/374097/sierra_agi_font (If you don't want to sign up to download, Tawmis, just PM m...

Re: Leisure Suit Larry 5 (Commentary Thread)

1. Larry suffers from amnesia and forgets he was ever with Patti, after meeting her in LSL2 and hooking up with her in LSL3. (Doesn't make sense). Yet on the plane, Larry dreams of Patti playing at the Parthenon, the Taj Mahal etc... (Doesn't make even more sense). ;) Tawmis would be able to explai...

Re: So ... I finally (finally) finished SQ6!

Only a guess here, but: When the reason is for adultery or some other nefarious/criminal/immoral activity, people often do not use their 'given' names while staying in hotels so as to hide their true identity. In the USA, the stereotypical name used is "John Smith," because it is the most common nam...

Re: Star Wars / Star Trek Discussion (SciFi In General)

"Turnabout Intruder" is arguably worse. (A woman swaps bodies with Kirk.) "Spock's Brain" is so silly there's some enjoyment to be had there ( "Brain and Brain! What is Brain?!" ). There's nothing enjoyable (or sensible, or intelligent...) about "Turnabout Intruder". While cringe-worthy (especially...

Re: Star Wars / Star Trek Discussion (SciFi In General)

"Spock's Brain" is generally considered the worst episode of the Original Series. During the mid-80s, there used to be numerous paperback collections of articles from Trek fanzines, and being the pre-Internet / pre-TNG era, I devoured them all (still have them... somewhere). One of the articles I re...

Re: Star Wars / Star Trek Discussion (SciFi In General)

Enterprise was....alright. ... The third season is more out of character for enlightened post-WW3 Star Trek humanity than DS9 was by going on a war mission in the heart of an unexplored area of space to take revenge on an alien species called the Xindi who Starfleet thinks killed some humans or som...

You might find the following program helpful; I know I have: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/bulk_file_changer.html Description BulkFileChanger is a small utility that allows you to create files list from multiple folders, and then make some action on them - Modify their created/modified/accessed time...

Re: Request for Screenshot(s) - Diskette Install message(s)

Those were mostly SCI games. If your games include "INSTALL.EXE", "INSTALL.SCR", "INSTALL.TXT", and "INSTALL.HLP" you cn mount its folder in DOSBox as a floppy drive and if you also mount another folder as C: and run INSTALL.EXE from your "A:" drive you can see the installer. Thank you for the scre...

Request for Screenshot(s) - Diskette Install message(s)

Hello, all. This is a kind of strange request. I'm looking for at least one example screenshot of the type of install messages that would accompany the later Sierra games that had numerous diskettes. I don't mean the set-up screen for graphics, music, mouse, etc. Instead, I'm looking for the message...

Re: Designing a Quest for Glory Spinoff -

A Katrina origin story might be interesting - exploring her life before she was a vampire and after she became one, the evolution of her powers and her descent into darkness. Prior to their Hero-U Game Kickstarter, Lori Cole used her School For Heroes blog to discuss the women of the Quest For Glor...

And on that topic: if you're a fan of film scores, De Wolfe -- the British company that pioneered library / stock music for films and television -- released the music used in MP&THG last year: https://www.amazon.com/Wolfe-Music-Presents-Monty-Python/dp/B074Q2WD5S/ref=sr_1_5?s=dmusic&ie=UTF8&qid=1525...

Re: Thexder 95 - Full game thinks it's a demo

A belated follow-up: I recently created a Windows XP Virtual Machine. Running that OS in a VM (and not on actual hardware), the Sierra set-up program for Thexder 95 didn't "see" that I had enough RAM, though in actuality I had plenty. So, I installed it using Collector's program with the ISO I made ...
