Re: Al wants “infringing” Kickstarter campaign taken down

Whether it's illegal or not, I think it's in poor taste to refernce someone who isn't involved in a project and doesn't want to be associated with it, especially if it creates conflict and confusion with their own product. Maybe they were just trying to pay respect to their inspiration, but it seems...

Re: DOSBox, QFGIV--suddenly can't restore game

You could try cheating and using a hex editor to bring your skills back up, but it's probably even more complicated. Spells are probably the worst and most tedious. But if you're importing into the next game and like me, then you want the skills maxed by the end.

Re: The Brainless Box (aka Television Shows)

Sounds like it's time for a Sam & Dean vs Grimm Guy & uh... someone else from the show deathmatch, not that death ever stops the Winchesters.

Re: The Brainless Box (aka Television Shows)

I have to admit that Grimm had a bit of a b-movie feal sometimes (I agree with the sometimes wooden actors), however, I still thought it was a good show. I do admit, though, that I have a weakness for supernatural themed shows. On another note, they have also been showing Once apon a time. I have t...

Re: The Brainless Box (aka Television Shows)

I can't stand Grimm. Why? I'm not looking to argue or change your mind, I'm just genuinely curious as to why you dislike Grimm so much. The main Grimm guy is extremely bland and wooden. It didn't surprise me when I found out he apparently got his start on the MTV show Road Rules. I didn't like the ...

Re: The Brainless Box (aka Television Shows)

I can't stand Grimm. I watched a mini-marathon of it, and the only enjoyment I got was making fun of it MST3K-style.

I tried it myself to make sure it was real. Using Rivendell works too.

Re: Expanding the Thief's Abilities in Hypothetical QFG Rema

If they remake QFG, I hope it's not in a 3D world. I want it to be true to the original, but with updated graphics. Those graphics could be rendered in 3D, but still maintain the look and feel of the original. The Monkey Island Special Editions are a good example of what I'd like to see. And there's...

Re: ScummVM Question

If you're trying to use your actual DOS saved games, they won't work with ScummVM. It uses its own special save game files, so you'll have to start over if you want to use ScummVM.

Re: ScummVM vs DOSBox

Like I said, DOSBox is usually best unless you want to play a non-DOS game or use a feature that didn't originally exist in the DOS version. I forgot about undithering, but that would probably be the only compelling reason I could see to play a DOS game on ScummVM instead of DOSBox if that appeals t...

Re: ScummVM vs DOSBox

In general, I think DOSBox is better, and with a good front end, it's just as easy to use. Plus, I don't like how ScummVM uses its own save files that they've said may become incompatible as newer versions are released. And DOSBox has better audio support, unless ScummVM has finally caught up. Plus ...

Re: Dragon Age III

I pretty much agree with Tawmis said. It wasn't the gore of exploding bodies that was the problem. It was just how cartoony and ridiculous it was. Like you were fighting balloons filled with tomato juice. The combat was so much better and more satisfying in Origins. I thought politics was handled a ...

Re: Question about DOSBox w/MT-32 support

I haven't used it, but I'm just guessing that maybe it doesn't require you to change to mt32 midi playback through a control panel. I use the ykhwong build which has had mt32 built in for a while, and it works fine as long as the proper roms are in the folder. You don't need to install MUNT separate...
