Re: Playing KQ8: Crash of Eternity on Win 7 64-bit

It has nothing to do with the if structure, there's a bug in the talkcomplete function so anything can be randomly skipped. The current way around this is to rewrite the script to advance after a set amount of time for the most common trouble spots. The disadvantage of this is it can still happen an...

Re: Playing KQ8: Crash of Eternity on Win 7 64-bit

I've been able to play for hours on Win 7 x64... or at least boredom forces me to quit. No, it ain't mah 3D card's fault -- Dual GTX 680 1gig in SLI mode , runs GTA4 with max quality and the ocean splashing on the beach smooth as glass. It's too bad this game can't somehow be forced to run at 1600x1...

Re: MOE - audio and game hangups

Issue #2: Dimension of Death hangup. Not where you'd expect - the instant I enter the Dimension of Death and the cutscene where Connor destroys the evil spirit thing with his magic ring, the game hangs. Connor just stands there looking like a doofus, the spinning mask icon stays there, and nothing ...

Re: Help finding Mask of Eternity and Roberta Williams Antho

Necroposting but... The copy of Mask of Eternity that ended up saving me hours of headaches was actually in a completely beat up box that reeked of smoke and had the disc tucked in the manual instead of a jewel case. Before that I didn't even know that v1.0.0.3 discs existed, or even that they inadv...

Re: KQ8 Indeo codec error request

My laptop's packed up at the moment, so I can't upload the Xvid re-encoded videos but as a temporary work around you can try using this to just skip the video.

Extract the attached zip to: Mask\Snowexit\patch\

GOG's exe is riddled with broken CD related checks, use this instead.

They changed it in the later versions, it's only marble in 2.0 as far as I know.

Re: King's Quest 4 AGI

Crud I think I came across the pass phrase in some editor (AGI studio?) at one point, but I forget what it was. I think it may have started with a B, barnacle maybe? Though honestly, it's not that hard to remove it entirely. Change one room number in the script... and that's all I have to say, it's ...

Do you have the spellbook from the bookshop, or have you attempted to collect swamp ooze in the teacup yet?

Re: MoE fixes

For the dosbox.conf they just pasted my [autoexec] section at the end of the full 0.72 dosbox.conf. They also are using DOSBox 0.73. Erm, they're not exact and those are pretty standard commands for running something silently in DOSBox. I'm not saying they didn't, but it might be a stretch saying t...

Re: Understanding Roland MT-32

Replying to an old post but thought I'd share :geek: For my setup I use a Stereo Mini Plug to 1/4" Left/Right Mono Plugs Y cable adapter to plug my MT-32 into the line-in jack on my sound card, it seems those cables are hard to find and most places either don't specify or they use stereo 1/4" plugs ...

Re: King's Quest 8 script fixes for the remaining lockups

Right, I know, I've been playing around with that a little too. My guess is we can get it working some day with the right .dll files. If you add d3drm.dll from Windows XP it gets a little farther (but still crashes, you get a little more meaningful error message though) since it needs that and it wa...

King's Quest 8 script fixes for the remaining lockups

So far I've only tested the lockup after leaving the windmill, but it fixed the lockup on my machine without having to set windows 98 compatibility mode (which is good, since for whatever reason Mask.exe stays in memory after I quit if it's set). If other people can test this, I think I know what's ...

nGlide - Better than zeckensack's?

Has anyone tried this glide wrapper? It lists Mask of Eternity on its compatibility list, but I haven't had a chance to test it on a real Windows XP machine so I don't know how well it works. http://www.zeus-software.com/downloads/nglide/ It loads up in VMWare and Wine, but I can't get it to show an...

Newrisingsun's page is gone, anyone want the files?

If you haven't noticed, Newrisingsun's website that had all the patches is now gone because geocities closed a while back. I have a backup of all the files if anyone wants them attached here or at: http://www.box.net/shared/n8or1igfl5
