KQ7 - Wooden Nickel

Talk about a blast from the past. Last night, for the first time in over 25 years, I encountered the wooden nickel bug in the Faux Shop! Totally my fault, as I'd forgotten to apply the patch (though honestly I didn't think I needed to; assumed ScummVM would've incorporated it along with their other ...

Re: Laura Bow and the Mechanical Codex

I always assumed that TCB took place in the '20s when she was still in college, but Dagger was several years later, after when she graduated. All of the Art Deco and other things in Dagger scream '30s. Laura's notebook states the year is 1926, a year after TCB. But the overall design of the game do...

Re: What are you playing now?

Having been on an Alien kick lately, I'm giving Alien: Isolation another try on my Xbox One. I love the look and feel of the game, but my TV isn't huge and the text is so small that trying to read it gives me eye strain, so I can't play it for prolonged periods. I've noticed small text appears to be...

Re: Did anyone else pick up Disney+ Streaming?

Sorry, I didn't see your response when I wrote mine. As I remember, the scene was edited on my VHS copy, so we're talking some years ago that change was made.

I hope they stick to disclaimers for everything else and don't resort to cutting everything to ribbons.

Re: Did anyone else pick up Disney+ Streaming?

That Fantasia scene was edited out YEARS ago, so no surprise that's the version on streaming.

Re: Did anyone else pick up Disney+ Streaming?

Now, I have heard that Disney have been editing/censoring movies on Disney+ which I think is ridiculously stupid and could start an avalanche of movie censoring going forward that would ruin classics. Movies should be left as they are for better or worse. It's where we came from and we should remem...

Re: Did anyone else pick up Disney+ Streaming?

There's a smattering of Disney offerings on Stan, but nothing near the treasure trove this offers. I wonder if this will be the death knell to their longstanding "Disney Vault" tradition. For those of us who prefer physical media, It'd be great if they issued their classics on DVD/Blu-Ray and then k...

Re: [2019] The Time To Guess Is At Hand!

I think Baked Potato was tassieboy, since he showed up only briefly. Yep. I joined in late and then got super busy with work. Sorry about that. No need to apologise, that's perfectly understandable! Hopefully you'll be able to join in more next year if you wish. And kudos on the live streaming, tha...

Re: [2019] The Time To Guess Is At Hand!

Rath, you're incorrect. I wasn't Baked Potato. I think Baked Potato was tassieboy, since he showed up only briefly. Khelgar was Rath, beyond a shadow of a doubt, given the wild sense of humor he displayed. He also had the highest post count, which he's had for the past two years running. Interroban...

Re: "Lady Detective" game... is it... Laura Bow?

The face looks too young, IMO, but is overall well animated. I'm with Collector on the cartoony style not really being appropriate to LB. Nevertheless, it'd be great to see her in another game!

Re: The "Too Many Games, Not Enough Time" Problem.

Most of the early Tomb Raiders I've started but never finished; King's Quest III and VIII; Quest for Glory I and II; Gabriel Knight; Phantasmagoria; Eco Quest; Freddy Pharkas; I own the Monkey Island games but have never even installed them; Police Quest; Codename ICEMAN...those are just the ones I ...

Re: The "Too Many Games, Not Enough Time" Problem.

Yeah; but that sounds like games you don't have. I am more curious about games you DO have. Or are you saying you got a bunch of games that remind you of other games? Both, really. I have acquired a number of games over the years I haven't completed. Partly because I don't currently have much time ...
