Are you one of Carey's (living, i.e. non-murdered) associates?

GOG sale of Sierra/LucasArts games ... what's your view?

... well, there's GOG a sale Sierra/LucasArts games again. ;) Some that caught my eye are: 1. The Dig 2. The Police Quest series 3. The Colonel's Bequest 4. The Last Express Of these, I've played only PQ1 and 2 to completion. I don't think I ever got started with PQ3, and never seen PQ4. Are they "w...

Re: So ... what's the deal between dwarves and elves?

Heh. I know exactly what you mean, DPX - the great "divide and rule". Let's see what differences people have, so we can exploit them, divide them from each other, and make them hate each other. That'll make it easier for us to rule them. ;) It's been done with race, religion, money, colour of skin e...

Re: Medusa to stand before the courts. (Warning: Nude Female Statue Image)

What kind of thing do you mean, DPX? I know there's lots and lots of alternate-history stuff, but some of it is clearly impossible (e.g. Aztecs with nukes, or Anglo-Saxons with tanks). I'm not interested in that kind of wish-fulfillment. As for stuff you're not interested in... well, that's ...

Re: Medusa to stand before the courts. (Warning: Nude Female Statue Image)

I've always liked "What If?" scenarios. You might like the "Perseus/Medusa" novel I wrote a couple of years ago, then. ;) I took the original story and followed it pretty faithfully, but with two exceptions: 1. Perseus must figure out where Medusa is by himself and get there by himself. No supernat...

So ... what's the deal between dwarves and elves?

I'm thinking of the low-grade (or not-so-low grade) hostility between dwarves and elves in just about every RPG. ;) I don't understand it. In the original "fantasy" book, The Hobbit , dwarves and elves weren't hostile to each other. Thorin and Elrond, and their followers, cooperated. Elrond was hosp...

Re: Medusa to stand before the courts. (Warning: Nude Female Statue Image)

Hmph. MI has some very good points here - the average person (who may or may not know the mythology) may just look at that statue and say "You go, girlfriend" or something equally ridiculous. Not to mention the "men bad, women good" ludicrousness that DPX pointed out. MI, the only way that a statue ...

Re: LucasArts made their games easier than Sierra by making them more difficult?

Hmm. "Fate of Atlantis" was always a rather difficult game, even with the limited choice of verbs you can use. :) Just wait until you get the Dialogue of Plato. You will then have a choice of which path to follow - and each path will have its own puzzles! Three games in one - huzzah! ;) Seriously, t...

Re: TV Series

All right, maybe I phrased that badly. I don't think any of this is "evil" or "the work of the devil" etc. But to a fundamentalist, the bad guy's appearance is clearly reminiscent of devils etc. So I can imagine them telling off their kids for watching this. *shrug* Ridiculous, of course, but oh wel...

Re: Medusa to stand before the courts. (Warning: Nude Female Statue Image)

Interesting. I reimagined and recreated the story of Perseus and Medusa a couple years ago. Naturally, I did my research and I'm well aware of Medusa's origins (i.e. the Poseidon angle). Badass? I'm not sure. Looking at her facial features, she seems more weary and resigned to me, which makes sense....

Re: TV Series

Uh ... all right, clearly this is for kids. ;) *they jump into a cleft in the rock* "We're safe now!" *three headed dragon grabs them* On a more serious note, I can quite see why some fundamentalist Christians would've seen this and thought "D&D is evil!!! Eeeeeevilll!!!!" like they did back t...
