The One Thing That Stuck Out For Me About Space Quest...

In Space No One Can Hear You Clean, er, Scream. But if you post in this forum about Space Quest - someone's sure to hear you. I think. Try it, anyway!

You know why that is, right? :D

Yes, it's a bit hard to miss. Roger mentions it himself - didn't he commit mail fraud in SQ2, in order to get that whistle that would allow him to get past the Tazmanian Devil? ;)

Oh, and didn't the company send Arnoid after Roger in SQ3?

So the fembot is here to finish what Arnoid started and failed to finish. (He won't be back). :D

It's a bit of a plot hole: there's nothing in SQ2 that indicates that the whistle costs anything or that Roger is committing any sort of fraud.

Perhaps the offer was void on Labion? (It was written in really, REALLY fine print? Like, microscopic-sized?...)

Oh! *surprised* Then... why is Arnoid in SQ3? And why is the fembot in SQ5? :?

*applies microscope; reads*
Warning: offer void on Labion. Ordering the Labion Terror Beast Whistle without paying for it is a crime. Failing to pay can result in sore throat, kneecap damage, death, shivering, a cold, a flu, stomach ulcers (due to Arnoid wringing your puny frame like a sponge), death, earache and headaches (due to our fembots using your ears to twist your head off), becoming a pile of ash (due to our fembots shooting you with laser guns), migraine, death, and halitosis. The Labion Terror Beast Whistle© is a registered trademark of the Gippazoid Novelty Company©. Use only as directed. If pain persists, you have failed to use the Cubix Rube®, and you are about to suffer a painful and hideous death. Please see your doctor.

The Labion Terror Beast Whistle© is not for everyone (ages 4+ only, not including Roger Wilco).

Please ask your parents for permission before purchasing (yes, that includes you, Roger Wilco). Please ask your parents for permission to use their credit card before purchasing (yes, that includes you, Roger Wilco). Call to order now: operators are standing by. 5 credits for the first minute and another 1.99 credits for each additional minute. Call now!
Gosh. Who knew that Mr Popeil works in outer space now?

*drops offer and runs like hell to avoid being lynched for the above bit of silliness* :P

Scott Murphy himself admitted it was a mistake on his part writing that inconsistency into SQ3 (and subsequently, Mark in SQ5).

It could have been fixed in SQ6. They could have included the whistle in the mementos that Roger kept in his quarters and used the "fine print" excuse followed by "There! Now to anyone complaining about plot holes: we fixed it!" :)

But normally, if there's an order form and you don't fill it out right or don't provide the necessary payment, the result is just that they don't send you the item, not that they send the item and a pair of killer robots.

Maybe he put the planet he was currently on as his "home residence" so that it'd "ship" there - thus, putting incorrect information there - and thus, committing mail fraud, and thus, two killer robots!

Or we're just thinking too much and taking a humorous game way too seriously.
