That's right! AFAIK it's contemporary Hebrew, not "accented Arabic". You can see here (warning!!) their full list and translation

I'm currently going in detail through the Sierra catalogs and ran into this page of the "Discover the many worlds of Sierra" catalog.

"Leisure Suit Larry's Datebook"? Never heard of that one. If there's one person who should know about this, it's Al Lowe! So I asked. His reply?

***PEDANT ALERT! PEDANT ALERT!***

I was born in Israel and speak fluent Hebrew, and Rakeesh is right - these are contemporary Hebrew insults, which have been transliterated into English. However, "Kus em'ak" is definitely not a Hebrew insult, but an Arabic one that had been 'adopted' into Hebrew (about 20 years ago, IIRC).

Do you remember the symbols of the six goddesses from the game? Have you noticed that a couple of them appear out of place in the game?

What do you mean, out of place?

You learn them in Gaza, in order to answer some riddles later... but a couple of them can also be seen elsewhere, in a totally irrelevant screen

Ah, nice one. So what might those be doing in the Chapel of the Two Gods?

No idea. Maybe when creating the game they thought the symbols looked neat? Let's face it: not a whole lot of people were looking at the symbols on the screen's border. ;)

However the designers were aware about them. I don't know which word defines them in the parser (so that you can "look at" them), but they are recognizable by the right-click feature. Merlin will say that they are the "symbols of Isis and Vesta" but has "no idea" why they are there.

I'm assuming you are referring to the Vesta and Isis symbols and not the lions in the corners, which was a traditional symbol of Britain from early on in its history. I wouldn't dismiss it too quickly as just because "it looked neat" with the Conquests games. Christy Marx was pretty thorough with her research for the games. Don't forget that as Christianity spread through out Europe, often aspects of older mythologies were not completely dropped, sometimes even getting incorporated into the local Christian beliefs. Hence the "Chapel of the Two Gods". Thor's Hammer is a common motif in artifacts found in early Christian settlements of northern Europe.

Indeed, but I must say that some of her bibliography (http://conquests.wikia.com/wiki/Liber_e ... iblography) was pseudo-historical, and some of it attempted to link Christianity with pagan religions in points where it shouldn't. One of her sources was "The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross" by controversial author John Allegro

For example the portrayal of Labarum in the game as the "Roman symbol of Mithras" is wrong AFAIK. Also, in the manual Marx attempts to reinforce the link of the Grail and the Goddess by translating "Arimathea" as "belonging to the Goddess-mother Mari" which has no basis

I could elaborate more if someone wishes but I hope I am not touching controversial topics now. CoC has been one of my faves ever.

By the description of the software... it sounds like what "Larry Pops Up!" from Al Lowe's download page would have possibly been? Or perhaps if it was mushed into Laffer Utilities?

The criminal files in Police Quest mention that some of them are in "Foolsum". I thought that Foolsum is some legal term, but Wikipedia/Google return nothing. Does that mean that Foolsum is a fictional location in or near Lytton?

Perhaps a play on Folsom Prison.
