Top 10 games of the decade.

Talk about games or general tech issues that are not Sierra related.

Yeah, I just saw that now. It's odd that ALL of his games are from the Wii and the DS. As Datadog said, his list reads like a catalog.

I also noticed that FIVE of the games Rath listed weren't released within the last decade. :P

The fact that it was possibly a bot was the why of the challenge to name some Sierra games.

Do bots get that advanced? I thought it is some teenager who fell for one of the "easy money" schemes like buzzing.

Bots form the search engines are good. They are how the search sites harvest the information for their search engines. I administer a number of boards and the spam bots are getting pretty sophisticated. Because of the changes to the various board systems they evolve in response. Most board now place newly registered members in a probationary status where all posts have to be admin or mod approved. If the first few posts are spam, the accounts get deleted. The bots now make a few seemingly "legitimate" posts to get past the probationary period before they start spamming. It is an arms race, or sort of like pesticides. You can make a really good one, but eventually the pests evolve ways around it.

After dealing with them for a while you get to a point where you can usually ID them pretty quickly. As good as they have become, their posts are always off topic, which for first posts is always a red flag. I challenged it in this thread and Tawm set it an email challenge, but as you would expect, no response.

There was one bot on the Infamous Adventures forums (or maybe the AGDI forums) where the bot copy and pasted a paragraph from someone else's post that was 2 or 3 years old along with its own paragraph and posted it in a thread where it was actually on topic. I think bots are going to become self aware at some point and take over the world...

Like Dr. Moriarty in the episode of Star Trek TNG where a holodeck redering of Moriarty became sentient.

That explains why I kept seeing it.

Loved that show. I have the whole series on DVD.

I'm envious. I only have seasons 6 and 7 (though arguably they're the best). Looking for season 5 but prices haven't been low since the new Star Trek came out and I didn't have the money at the time. There are still one or two episodes I actually haven't seen yet.

I did find it interesting how he responded appropriately to certain forum posts, talking about his favorite foods or what game he was playing right now. Maybe he was a real person doing market research? Or maybe bots just know which forum posts to look for.

He is right, though. I finished "Zelda: Twilight Princess" the other week and it's gotta be somewhere up in my top 11. The game-play and boss battles alone are just so darn creative. I didn't know iron boots could have so many uses.
