Final Soul - The Haunting (A Text Adventure Game)

Postby Tawmis » Thu Oct 31, 2013 3:25 am

So eons ago I made a text adventure game (way back in 1995!) - naturally, it was DOS based, and didn't work on modern machines now. Well, with Collector's help, he made a cool installer for it so it DOES work. So if you're so inclined, you can download it and play it here. If you got questions or whatever, you can post'em here.

You can read about it (same blog) either on LarryLaffer.net or Neverending Nights.

Maybe we can talk him into doing an SCI0 version. ;)

And now for responses from...

Steam Gamer: This game is old and has no achievements or trading cards! No buy! (doesn't even bother to read the information that says the game is free).

GOG Gamer: No extras or manual? Where's my Steam key!?

Yes, I know the above is a generalization, but I've noticed that behavior after spending far too much time on both the Steam and GOG boards.

Well, it's a silly one. So if you play it, would love to hear what you think...

If I knew how to code in SCI0, I'd so do it! Even AGI!

Steam Gamer: Final Soul 2 will have achievements! (Like I have time for Final Soul 2... even if I have most of it written out for riddles and everything!)
GOG Gamer: The manual comes in the one page ReadMe (yeah, that's how much explaining the game has!)

You know how to do graphics, so you could start there. Try playing around with SCI Companion's PIC and VIEW editors. As to the scripting, lots of examples in the tutorials and here.

I have tinkered with AGI (a few months back), because I was considering doing more Sierra/Space Quest based machinima things (like I did before). So I have gone through and edited screens from LSL1, PQ1 and such - to get a feel for how it works. Not tinkered with SCI yet.

I may take you up on said offer, good sir. Because I would love to see this turned into a graphic game. (Er, as in having graphics, not as in violent!)
