The problem is the CPU heatsink is hard to see with how everything is so tightly packed in. To really get at it, I'd need to (yet again) start removing parts.

Ugh. I hate laptops. :P

This is why I generally do not accept any laptop jobs unless it is just a software/malware problem. Anyway, unless you are talking about the onchip GPU what you need to check is the GPU heat sink and fan.

I'm going to review those YouTube videos again. Maybe if I watch them enough (and even take notes), I might be able to take this laptop apart and then put it back together again.
