It looks like GOG has shut down.

From the fact that the message indicates that downloads will still be available and that they previously said they were going to have some kind of new format announcement arond the 22nd, I'm thinking it's a publicity stunt and they're just bringing the site out of it's beta version.

In any event, I'm glad I got Mask of Eternity from there onto my Windows 7 machine before this happened.

Wow.. A couple weeks ago on a whim I decided to pull out my old games and stumbled here (glad I did!) ... I was actually considering pulling the trigger on KQ7/8 since I'd never played them.. oh well.

That, and OPPO has discontinued their BDP-80 bluray player.. Glad I already got mine. Incredible player for its price point for sure...

Murphy's law: last week I created a page in the Chest, providing direct links to all Sierra games rereleased by GOG. Today, GOG shuts down. Typical... It is weird though. Will keep an eye out.

Yikes. This is pretty sudden and unexpected, not to mention disheartening. I sure hope GOG is able to pass the torch on to another company willing to provide us with these good old games (wordplay intended).

Hrm - something's up. I don't think it's over. The way they phrased things "GoG couldn't continue in this format" "next challenge"... methinks, as mentioned, GoG may be getting a face lift and returning.

Looks like GOG will be back soon!
18 HRS 40 MIN 41 SEC

First of all we would like to apologize everyone who felt deceived or harmed in any way by us closing down GOG.com without any warning and without giving access to your games. We apologize for that from the bottom of our hearts!

Now it's time we put an end to all the speculations once and for all. It’s true that we decided that we couldn't keep GOG.com the way it was… so we won’t. As you probably know by now, GOG.com is entering its new era with an end of the two-years beta stage and we're launching a brand new GOG.com with new, huge releases.

The new GOG.com will launch at 8.00 a.m. EDT (2 p.m. CET). Later today we'll provide you here 4 videos where you'll find all needed information on current events, as well as news on the new GOG.com, the upcoming big releases and the summary of the last two years.

Chapter 0 confirmed that GoG will NEVER go the DRM route and they ARE NOT being bought out by another digital distribution company (Steam was implied).
