Help! Game freezing on day 6 after conversations

Ahoy!

We're in the middle of playing Gabriel Knight Sins of the Fathers on Mac OS X using Boxer/DOSBox. On Day 6 we've been having some problems. Occasionally we can have a conversation with someone and then exit the interrogation mode without a hitch. But more often, when we attempt to exit interrogation mode, the screen remains black and either freezes that way, or we get the error message: "Not an object: §71f Script: 51/§5aa."

Though we're not sure that it will solve this problem, we've tried installing the patches available on the Sierra help page. However, we're not sure we're installing them right to use them with a game being run on a Mac over DOS Box.

Anyone encountered this before? Any solutions? It will kill me not to see the end of the game after making it this far...

I'm not sure how much help I'll be able to give with Mac/Boxer in the equation, but I'll need some information. Is this the floppy or CD version? how did you set the game up? What are your DOSBox settings?
