KQ1 SCI dwarf

Currently inserting King's Quest 1 SCI in the Chest. You know that annoying dwarf that rushes to Graham and steals something from him, right? Well, he also appears after getting the chest from the giant in the land in the clouds, namely when you go down the path in the cave (which does NOT happen in the AGI release). Thing is, he ALWAYS seems to be waiting there. I tried like 20 times or so, exiting and re-entering the cave screen, walking down the path and there he was again, stealing the magic chest. Did anybody get passed this without having to go through the pain of climbing down that beanstalk again? Is his appearance randomized, or is he always there?

If he's always there, it'd be rather lame IMO. I hate to go down that beanstalk, but NOBODY TOUCHES MY PRECIOUS CHEST!!!

Ive been able to get all the way down without the dwarf showing up. I remember it taking several attemps, but it is possible

...but there's another way too.
Wear ring
Rub ring (to turn invisible)
Walk down the path unhindered

More than 2 decades to find out how that ring works... Found it by checking the texts in the SCI resource viewer.

I did Rudy's method first time I played it at 8 years of age.

Wow. I always though him stealing from you on the stairs was inevitable.

I was actually replaying KQ1SCI the other day and was having the same problem. I climbed the path back up, re-entered and the dwarf was gone. It seems everytime you enter it randomizes the chance of the dwarf being there.
