I'm having some trouble

Hey i got sins of the fathers this morning and found out about the DOSBox Installer i had to get for it to be compatible on my laptop, i've installed it, but after it installed i clicked the box that said play, and it started to install again.
Whenever i click the desktop icon it made it just tried to install the DOSBox Installer again, what should i do?

There's a diagnostic tool that comes with the installer. Run that, and upload the text file to the forum reply.

Where would that be? because everything i click in the game folders tells me it's not compatible with the version i have and the DOSBox Installer just comes on it's own

Ah i found it, it was in the start menu

You did select your installation of DOSBox during the install, didn't you? What is in the contents of the GK2.BAT file?

Ok, i didn't know because it looked like garble to me, also when you ask if i selected the DOSBox i thought that was what i was downloading, i'm not very good with computers. It was the first download on the sierra help site when i googled gabriel knight sins of the fathers windows 7.

Try reinstalling. If you are not too sure about browsing with the installer to alternate locations for DOSBox, just let the installer download and install DOSBox for you.

It did the same thing again, trying to install after it has already installed. I'm clicking this one on the help page to install.

Gabriel Knight 1 CD DOSBox Installer (EXE file) [611 KB]

Installs entire game to the hard drive for CD-less play. Includes all official Sierra patches and the NewRisingSun patch for the game's timer bugs. It is Vista and Windows 7 compatible and will work on 64-bit Windows. When used, the folowing patches will not be required.

During the installation it does say a DOSBox can't be found in programme files then asks me to browse for one, which is when i click the DOSBox which started this whole installation in the first place, if that isn't the DOSBox then what am i installing?

Uninstall it all and do a clean install.

It may be keeping some messed up configuration file.

Then on the clean install, let it install DOSBox for you.

No, that is just the installer for the game, not DOSBox. You can't browse to select DOSBox if it is not already installed on your system. If you do not already have DOSBox installed, select "No" when it asks you if you have it installed elsewhere and the installer will then download and install it for you. It is all automated, but allows some flexibility for more advanced users.

It's all Collector. He does all the stuff. I just repeat some of the things I have seen him tell others (for basic troubleshooting).

You will, undoubtedly love the GK game/series. It's one of the best developed games in terms of story and characters.
